About the Program
Warnath Group’s U.S. – Jamaica Child Protection Compact Criminal Justice Initiative is an innovative program to strengthen the capacity of the Jamaican government and civil society to address all forms of child trafficking in Jamaica.
The program receives U.S. State Department funding under the U.S. – Jamaica Child Protection Compact, an initiative of both governments.
We deliver tailored, victim-centered, trauma-informed professional development training and technical assistance. The program assists the Government of Jamaica to identify victims, prosecute child trafficking cases, hold traffickers accountable, and facilitate appropriate care and support for survivors of child trafficking.
A hallmark of Warnath Group’s approach is collaboration with Jamaican experts. Warnath Group has partnered with Jamaica’s National Task Force Against Trafficking in Persons, Jamaica’s National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons, the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Jamaica’s Justice Ministry, other numerous other Government of Jamaica agencies, trafficking survivors, and civil society organizations.
One of the highlights of Warnath Group’s U.S. – Jamaica Child Protection Compact is the creation of multiple child-friendly spaces in various Government of entities. A child-friendly space is an environment designed to help children feel safe, calm, and comfortable while they are interacting with practitioners. These spaces are a tangible legacy of the U.S. – Jamaica Child Protection Compact.
Another highlight is the online, on-demand course we created in partnership with the Justice Ministry on identifying and interacting with child trafficking victims. Like all our projects, this course was designed with sustainability in mind. It will continue as a course offering from the Jamaican Justice Ministry’s training institute long after the U.S. – Jamaica Child Protection Compact ends. The video below details the course.
