On March 14, Warnath Group conducted a training session with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), or Local Subsystem of Protection (SSLP), in the canton of La Cruz, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Through the IACT Program, the Warnath Group is providing ongoing tailored training and technical assistance to the SSLP La Cruz to enhance the ability of practitioners to preliminarily identify and refer child trafficking victims. As the frontline in local protection efforts, MDT practitioners are also receiving training on the recovery and reintegration of child trafficking victims in their communities.
This training session is part of ongoing work with MDTs across Guanacaste and Puntarenas, which commenced in early 2022. Through strengthened SSLPs, possible child and adolescent trafficking victims are being preliminarily identified and referred for formal identification and assistance by the Immediate Response Team (ERI) and through the National Coalition Against the Smuggling of Migrants and Trafficking in Persons (CONATT) referral mechanism.
