On February 15, Warnath Group conducted training on child trafficking and the protection of child and adolescent trafficking victims in Liberia, Guanacaste. A total of 25 Costa Rican professionals participated in the training, representing various organizations including the Costa Rican Fund for Social Security (CCSS), Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), Joint Institute of Social Assistance (IMAS), National Women’s Institute (INAMU), and the Municipality of Liberia.
The objectives of the training included understanding the concept of child trafficking, the steps of trafficking victim protection, identifying potential barriers to victim identification, and applying indicators of trafficking in real-world scenarios. The training also focused on “Do’s” and “Don’ts” for preliminary identification and referral of child and adolescent trafficking victims in Costa Rica. The training was implemented as part of the Warnath Group’s Innovations in Addressing Child Trafficking (IACT) Program, funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of State Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (J/TIP).
IACT Program Technical Specialists facilitate the training on February 15.
